The complex was originally the old school, and the buildings are set amongst trees, lawn and playground. Loved the historic feel. It offers motel, cabin and villa accommodation and all very reasonably priced. We stayed in Morrow Villa, part of one of the older buildings. It was freshly decorated, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and the bedrooms were a good size. I appreciated the thoughtful touches. On a cold day, it was so nice to arrive and find that the heating had been turned on ready for us. A great place for families or groups, and it’s also quiet because it’s a little off the beaten track. Can’t wait to stay again. This is a great alternative to expensive Blue Mountains accommodation, and only a short drive away.
(Travelled with friends)
Our little group of 3 adults and a child were fortunate to be one of the first guests to stay in the newly renovated deluxe villa at Black Gold. This room is the original (1881) schoolhouse that was first built on the site and later other school buildings were added around it. The owners have done a fantastic job of turning this heritage building into a very spacious and comfortable place to stay. The high pitched ceiling and original timber beams reminded me of being in an old church and we admired the beautiful old sandstock bricks which have been uncovered from beneath years of plaster.

Three of us stayed in a 4 bedroom unit that had plenty of space for 10. It was warm, quiet, comfortable, clean and had character. The motel is a creative re-use of a school. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The Villa is recently completed luxury, self contained two storey accommodation.
The bright and sizeable rooms are perfect for a weekend escape to the country or an overnight stay if you’re returning to Sydney over the Blue Mountains from Bathurst or Central West NSW.
